Ministry of Magic

Regulating the Distribution of Fraudulent Magical Goods

Are you tired of Death Eaters taking your families? Are you outraged at the growing crime taking place in the Wizarding World? Are you appalled at the lack of government action? If so, then the Ministry of Magic is the place for you. As the centerpiece of the Wizarding World’s governance, the Ministry controls nearly everything, including the press, the justice system, and all new laws or regulations. Whether it’s Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, or even just Hogwarts, counterfeit goods are everywhere. As representatives of varying backgrounds from both the Ministry, Diagon Alley, and several other prominent characters, you will try to combat the sale of fraudulent goods. However, nothing can be done alone—work together with other delegates to come up with a final plan, or maybe betray other delegates to achieve personal glory, and find a way to fight counterfeit goods. Step into the world of Harry Potter and make the changes you need to see in the Wizarding World. Be the voice of reason against these magical atrocities, for the better or the worse.

Positions

DIRECTOR
Olivia Chen

Olivia Chen is a perpetually exhausted junior at Interlake High School and is thoroughly delighted to serve as the Director of the Ministry of Magic at EASTMUN 2026! Prior to being lured into her school’s club orientation by free snacks, Olivia had never even heard of Model UN. However, she immediately mastered the delicate art of writing position papers hours before they were due and quickly fell in love with everything about MUN, from sending Cybertrucks to the Qing Dynasty to meeting time-traveling arsonist robot squirrels. When she’s not losing sleep to cram conference prep, you are sure to find her delegating (get it?!) any and all work to her future self, wishing she had a better sleep schedule, or en route to the nearest boba shop. There is no other multiverse that she can predict that doesn’t include you being delegate in the Ministry, and she eagerly awaits yet another fantastically magical experience at EASTMOM 2026!

CHAIR
Mathew Zhou

Mathew Zhou is a freshman at Interlake High School and is absolutely, completely, and entirely thrilled to serve as the Chair of the Ministry of Magic at EASTMUN 2026! Ever since being peer-pressured into joining his school’s MUN club and attending his first conference, where they passed a resolution for a world-leader game show to the death, he has been completely encapsulated in the world of MUN. From scrambling to finish position papers 30 minutes before the deadline, to singing a Peru x Bolivia national anthem in front of other committees, he has been trapped in the MUN cycle since 8th grade. When he isn’t struggling to write position papers or frantically reading background guides, you can find him selling brownies at school, passionately singing Broadway songs, or tearfully watching NFL football (go niners!). Mathew can’t wait to see all the delegates in action and work their magic at EASTMUN 2026!!

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Gia Kim

Gia Kim is a sleep-deprived sophomore at Eastlake High School and is ecstatic to serve as the Assistant Director of the Ministry of Magic for EASTMUN 2026! Ever since following her friends to her first MUN conference, Gia has fallen in love with the ambience of clicking heels, lively unmods, and fiery resolution speeches. From shooting rainbows and dodging Zeus’s electric shock, Gia is overjoyed to have made it alive out of her first crisis committee in KINGMUN (thank goodness). Behind the scenes, she spends hours binge-watching K-dramas, regretting her life choices terribly the next day, and searching for a j*b that can pay for her K-pop tickets. In action, Gia eagerly awaits to push the cart into the wizardful world of EASTMUN 2026!
