United Nations Development Programme

Ensuring Equitable Resource Mining Within Indigenous Communities

Welcome to the United Nations Development Programme or UNPD! Established in 1965 by the General Assembly, the UNDP was made to consolidate the UN’s technical assistance and funding programs. Working with 170 countries and territories, UNDP’s aim is to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. At UNDP, delegates will have the chance to uphold the focus of reducing inequality while balancing differing political interests. They will be challenged to design solutions that create a more positive world while ensuring that the economy’s autonomy is sustained. We are so excited to see the productive and inspiring debate taking place at EASTMUN 2026!

Position papers are required to be eligible for awards and must be submitted to your dais at undp@eastsidemun.com by June 5, 2026, at 11:59 PM. If you have any questions about your committee, please reach out to your dais via email.

Positions

DIRECTOR
Alvin Huang

Alvin Huang is a junior at Interlake High School and is super excited to serve as the director for UNDP! The minute the MUN community welcomed him with open arms, he quickly fell in love with the rigorous debate that each committee room promoted. Ever since he raised his first placard, he has fallen further and further into the intricate rabbit hole known as MUN. When he isn’t busy spending sleepless nights researching global issues and controversies, Alvin can be found complaining about his lack of sleep, arguing over the most controversial topics, training his horrible badminton footwork, eating all kinds of ramen, and definitely drinking all sorts of bubble tea. Alvin is thrilled to welcome all delegates to UNDP for EASTMUN 2026!

CHAIR
Liba Mujtaba

Liba Mujtaba is a junior at Interlake High School and is thrilled to serve as the Chair for UNDP! From the first time going to a conference as a freshman to now staffing for one, she’s grown to love MUN more and more. While staying in different cities, and staying up late stressing over position papers, MUN grew her passion for spirited debate, and enthused research. When not worried about delegate positions, she can be found staying late in the dance studio, studying last minute for HOSA, or cuddling with her chickens! Liba is so excited to witness the creative speeches you have to offer at EASTMUN 2026!

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Kabir Khandelwal

Kabir Khandelwal is a junior at Interlake High School and is elated to serve as your Assistant Director of UNDP! From his first conference at Edumun 2024 to now, as his first time staffing, Model UN has provided a welcoming and exciting environment at every conference he’s been to. Last minute position papers, researching new ideas mid conference and making new friends are all part of the MUN experience. When he isn’t panicking over his unfinished position paper, he can be found watching a Seahawks game, improving his golf swing, or trying every new combo at Taco Bell. Kabir is ecstatic to see all the new delegates at UNDP at EASTMUN 2026!
